Before you buy
- Order furniture (crib, dresser, glider) 8 to 12 weeks ahead; popular models often ship slowly.
- Keep the crib bare: a firm mattress and a fitted sheet only. Sleep sacks replace blankets.
- Have the infant car seat installed and checked a few weeks before the due date. Many fire stations check installs for free.
- Babies outgrow newborn sizes quickly, so buy only a few newborn items and more in 0–3 months.
